The 2011 NOW Left-Wing Activism Conference

LOS ANGELES , June 27, 2011 — A worthless organization designed to elect political leftists is convening a conference in Tampa, Florida. Hopefully Tampa will be given a good scrubbing so that it is non-toxic in time for the 2012 Republican Convention.

From June 24-26, the National Organization for Women infested a nice part of Florida. Some delegates may be trying out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but most are there for their annual conference, where they cry on each other's oversized shoulder pads and insist that they are relevant.

One look at the lineup of speakers should relegate NOW's relevance claim  to the ash heap of history, along with New Coke and taco-flavored lip gloss (one of my brilliant but failed ideas). Here are their conference profiles, edited only for length:

1.) Marleine Bastien is founder and executive director of Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami, Inc. (FANM, Haitian Women of Miami) ... appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show to lend her expertise to a discussion of the devastating effect that prolonged detention at Guantánamo had on Haitian children.

Analysis: Let the terrorists loose in Tampa during the NOW Convention and see how the attendees like it.

2.) Sam Bennett - In November 2008, Bennett ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in Pennsylvania's 15th district. Though ultimately losing her race to incumbent Charles Dent, she obtained more votes than any other Democratic candidate in the district's history. In 2004, she took the position of Lehigh Valley Regional Field Director for America Coming Together (ACT), a non-partisan voter registration group.

Analysis: America Coming Together calls itself non-partisan despite being a left-wing George Soros project. Many votes means nothing. The woman ran and lost.

5.) Kate Dillon is known in the fashion industry as a groundbreaker and passionate advocate for humanitarian and environmental causes. Her experiences as a mother and wife further solidify her respect for women all over the world.

Analysis: Sarah Palin is a wife and mother who loves the environment. No word on how Ms. Dillon feels about Governor Palin.

6.) Lois Frankel is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in one of the most important congressional races in 2012 - Florida's 22nd District. Her opponent, incumbent freshman Allen West, is a Tea Party favorite who has voted to destroy Medicare and let oil companies keep their deficit-busting tax loopholes.
