A government investigator reports that the Social Security Administration made $6.5 billion in overpayments in 2009.
That includes $4 billion under a supplemental income program for the very poor. That came out to about 10 percent of all supplemental security income program payments being made improper. Some people received payments they were not entitled to while others received more than they should have.
You would not BELIEVE these Harvard Graduates that i have seen come into these SSA offices, frothing at the mouth like a rabid dog, because they failed to recieve their monthly "Payment". Upon further investigation, they were sent by mistake 2/3 additional checks (overpayments) for last month.
