Community invited to 67th annual Bath Horse Show

The horse show is the lone fundraising event to supplement the purchase of fire and EMS equipment and training for the Bath Fire Department, and supports community CPR classes and other safety-related community activities, according to show officials.

“The Bath Horse Show raises money for the Bath Fire Department, and the generous community donations help enhance the Bath Fire Department’s outstanding fire and EMS service, including technical rescue and water rescue team services that are provided to the residents of our community,” said Amy Bowers, who is a co-chair of the BVS Bath Horse Show Committee. “This year’s contributions will assist with the funding of a new 2012 water tender to replace the 20-year-old unit.”

Bowers said the BVS got involved in helping the fire department with this event “sometime in the ’70s.”

“BVS is a local community service group that has several projects that support other area groups,” she said. “BVS coordinates and administrates all the ticket sales before and up to the event — mailings begin in March to the whole community — and they staff the front gate of the show.”

According to Bowers, the BVS is pleased to be able to assist the Bath Fire Department.

Not pictured are Mary McMakin (advertising), Jody Miller Konstand (show and program), Janine Patterson and Chris Hlavin (poster contest) and Elaina Goodrich (front gate). “In 2010, the Bath Fire Department completed 1,272 emergency calls, of which 330 were fire-related and 942 were emergency medical service responses,” she said. “In addition, the Bath Fire Department is an integral part of community activities, including participating in the Revere High School Mock Accident, the Burn Camp at Camp Christopher and providing CPR instruction to community groups and fire prevention education in the local schools. The department also hosts the annual Halloween Party at the fire station, organizes the Gifts from Santa Program, participates at Bath Community Day and assists with Bath’s Project Pride Cleanup Day.

I was in the store shopping for my youngest brother’s birthday and saw the Stablemate Breyer horses. I’ve always like Breyer horses but felt they were to big to collect cause I don’t have a big bedroom and most my surfaces are taken up but since the Stablemates are small I’d like to collect them, is there a list, preferably online, that shows all of them?
